Hey There:
As I get deeper and deeper into Social Media, one of my resolutions for 2011 was to start doing some Vlogging (Video Blog). Originally I wanted just to display images and use only my voice as a narrator or music, but alas, the very first one I did was of me talking directly to the camera.
First of all, never thought I'd have the balls to do it, and second I did try over and over again to only show my nails, as you will see in the clip I'm posting here. Good thing I had a great topic so I could do the video; I made a blog entry at StyleBust.com called "Nail Polish Strips" in it I review Sally Hansen's Salon Effects strips, give information about other brands and show off my own nails.
This short one minute clip took me two days and easily 15 attempts before I was satisfied. I used a Samsung video recorder, also tried my Flip camera and finally it was the webcam on my laptop that did the trick. As a first attempt it's not bad, I still need to learn more about lighting, how to speak directly to the camera, apply my make-up better, and learn how to be more fluent.
I do have to admit I liked doing it, I don't cringe when I see myself on YouTube and I know I'll be making more of these in the future.

Wink Artisans
Hey There:
I recently did an interview with Wink Artisans for Style Bust, we had a chat about the art of making their amazing jewelry; but I also wanted to give my personal experience with Wink Artisans. Originally I purchased a necklace from their Etsy Store and the best part about it, is that it turns out, she lives nearby! She's been able to hand deliver both items I've bought from the site. It's a small world!
The first necklace I bought has a picture of Frida Kahlo in a piece of leather. Very cool as well as a conversation piece and ice breaker. Guys love to comment about it (and freely catch a glimpse of cleavage). In this photo I used the necklace to complement my Day of the Dead Halloween costume.
And this is the other piece I have from them. Skulls are slowly becoming my signature items, I have them on my laptop, phone, bags, etc. So I fell in love with this pink skull and golden feather necklace.
You can visit their Etsy Store to purchase items and connect with them in Facebook/WinkArtisans or on their Blog WinkArtisans.BlogSpot to learn about their personal appearances all over San Diego.
And finally check out my first ever interview published at Style Bust and pictures of more amazing jewelry. It was a great pleasure to talk to Wink and I look forward in getting more pieces from her.

Lace Necklace
Hey There:
As you know, I'm a guest writer for the fashion blog Style Bust, based in San Francisco. Recently the gals sent me a Lace Necklace as a gift and its one of my favorite pieces of jewelry.
Every single time I wear it, someone comments on it. At the store, in the street, at coffee shops, men and women, they all have something to say about it. The necklace is a piece of stiff lace that looks very unique and after a person praises it, they want to know what is it (great conversation starter). Some people think its made of thin wood, others think its a tattoo, and even from far away it gets noticed thanks to its unique shape.
So I wanted to give a special Thank You for the gift and if you are interested in getting one for yourself you can visit Leyna Lightman Etsy Store for other styles of necklaces and earrings.

Style Bust: Tepezcohuite
This week I added a post about my favorite beauty secret: Tepezcohuite.

In my Stylebust entry I sanitized a little why I used this product for the first time. The thing is I was really very extremely drunk that night in San Felipe, Mexico, fell down and scrapped my knee very badly with the sand and concrete when I arrived at the Hotel. I didn't notice it until the next afternoon when I woke up (still wearing my party clothes and makeup) and removed the covers...my knee was a bloody mess, but the hangover was so bad that the injury didn't hurt at all.
I remember with fondness that night, I actually stopped drinking for almost 6 months because I was so disgusted with alcohol.......ahh, the memories.
Anyway, click here to view the StyleBust entry.

Style Bust: Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment
Hey There:
This week I wrote on Style Bust an article on Ojon, Restorative Hair Treatment. This is really an amazing product and I loved it....too bad the sample I got only lasted one treatment. I might go and ask for one more sample, but I'm pretty sure I'll be buying this product very soon.

Style Bust
Hey There:
I'm very happy to announce I was accepted as a guest writer for a news, style and fashion-centric culture blog called Stylebust.com which focuses on the latest trends with writers mostly based in San Francisco......and me!
When I submitted my test blog I didn't think I would be accepted. I mean, the blog looks so nice and fancy, more sophisticated than my humble ramblings; but they liked my submission and I'm in!
I'll be writing once a week about either beauty products or accessories. Isn't that funny? 5 months ago I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between a blush brush and a powder brush let alone the other dozens of make up brushes and here I am writing like an expert about them.
Of course as a newly converted beauty product junkie (see When did I become high maintenance / April2010) I'm more likely to try all the new stuff and learn as much as I can to make me look nice and pretty.
My first collaboration is up on the blog and it's about RapidLash, a eye lash enhancement serum I've been using....check it out!
And you may have noticed....I just learned how to add hyperlinks to my blog...nice, isn't it?
